Houston Business Roundtable (HBR) September 2009 Update

At the Houston Business Roundtable (HBR) meeting today we discussed articles on safe lifting with Plate Clamps, ASME B30.9, and Lyondell's Crane Accident; and lessons learned.

David Moseley brought literature and discussed Crosby's new Split Nut retention systems that make hook inspections easier. Matt Gardiner of Haag Engineering gave a presentation on crane accidents and investigations. Examples included some wind power, yacht, and construction job incidents. Haag Engineering handles 70-75 crane accidents per year. Holt Crane & Equipment is hosting an open house on Sept. 22nd. From 10am to 1pm. Holt will be displaying the first and largest link-belt crawler model 548, 550 ton.  The HBR Golf Tournament is Oct. 5. Sign up here. ACRP 2009 Workshop & General Assembly October 12-14

HBR Crane & Rigging Sub-Committee August Meeting Notes

 

Yesterday morning at our monthly HBR Crane and Rigging Sub-Committee meeting,   Mr. Mark A. Hernandez, a Compliance Assistance Specialist with OSHA, gave an update on a presentation he recently put on at the 2009 ASSE PDC in San Antonio on Mobil Cranes in Spanish.  Mark used the HBR Crane and Rigging Sub-Committee and the Critical Lift Plan Best Practice from Valero Texas City as a resource. We welcomed back Keith Goodgame with Turner Brothers Crane and Rigging.  I also want to welcome our newest member Tom Roseberry with Holt Crane & Equipment for joining our group and look forward to their valuable input within our lifting industry.  Next meeting, September 8^th, at 8:00am, at the Austin Industries Building 8031 Airport Blvd. Suite 118.  See ya there!
