Jeff Bishop Reels in Big Fish at Texas Charity
Bishop Lifting Products just returned from participating in the Texas Oilman’s Charity Invitational Fishing Tournament on July 22-24th in Matagorda, Texas. 750 fishermen converge on Matagorda for this event benefiting a number of local charities including the Shrine Burn Hospital for Children, Special Olympics Texas National Games, and the Boys & Girls Club of Harris County to name a few.

This year is expected to bring $ 400,000, but in 2009 the tournament netted $455,808. Of last years amount, $402,955 was distributed to 39 charities and $52,853 was retained to start our 2010 tournament. The total distribution to charities from our 2002 inaugural event to 2009 has been $2.7 million.
Friday delivered high winds and rough seas, but we boated a few speckled trout despite the conditions. Saturday winds laid down and cleared the water up, making the boat rides easier on everyone.
Jeff Bishop carried Team Bishop Lifting and landed a 26-1/2” – 5 lb. 6 oz. speckled trout and a 23” redfish early on a topwater lure. His patented speckled trout call and maduro cigar seemed to be the secret to his success. His speckled trout weighed in and placed a respectable 4th place.
Team Bishop Lifting Products, Inc. consisted of 8 fishermen and a fishing guide. We had a great time supporting this great charity.
